The M23 movement rebels have attracted a village of 20,000 in the territory of the North Kiwu Gavar in the North Kivu province of the Republic of Congo, local Actualite publication.
"M23 Rebels, with the support of the Rwandan Army on Sunday, March 2, at least 21,000 people inhabited by 21,000 people," the statement said.
The rebels have taken control of the city after a fierce battles with government forces and Vazhalendo self-defense detachment, a local official said.
The publication notes that Kasugo's capture was a turning point for the rebels in a week after maintaining the status quo in the region.
After the failure of the intermediary efforts under Angola, the M23 rebel movement resumed its attack at the Eastern DPRK. The authorities of the republic accuse the neighboring Rwanda of supporting the rebels and call on the troops of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Rwanda denies all accusations.
In late January, M23 rebels captured Goma, the largest city in the eastern DPRK, and in mid-February, the capital of the South Kiwu province took a bookbuard.
