The Democratic Party of the ruling peoples of Tajikistan has won the lower chamber of parliament, receiving 51.9% of the votes in the national constituency, 12 out of 22 seats, which have been allocated in one constituency. The preliminary results of the March 2 elections were announced at the press conference President Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda.
"The Democratic Party of the Peoples of Tajikistan received 51.9 percent of the vote and secured 12 seats," he said. Khudoyorzoda clarified that more than 2.4 million citizens voted for the candidates for the ruling party of the republic.
According to Ccer's head, the Tajik Agrarian Party received five mandates in the new parliament, economic reforms, three seats, and democratic and socialist parties were one mandate. The Communist Party did not overcome the threshold of five percent and did not receive any mandate with party lists. 1.1% of voters voted against everyone.
The vote of the deputies of the lower house of the parliament is organized by a mixed system, 41 of them are selected from single constituencies, and 22 of the national constituency. The term of office is 5 years. In total, 220 candidates, including 65 self-nominated candidates, fought 63 seats in the lower house of the parliament.
