Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Badha Gunnaba on his election as President of Abkhazia. The message of the President of the Russian Federation was published on the Kremlin website.
"Dear Badha Zurabovich, accept my sincere congratulations on the election of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia," the congratulatory text reads.
Putin expressed hope that the Russian-Abkhazian friendly relations "will continue to strengthen, for the benefit of peoples."
"The victory in the elections, which took place in the face of the free expression of the people's will, confirmed the support of Abkhazia's citizens to ensure the development of internal political stability and the country's advancing socio-economic development," said the Russian President, good health and prosperity.
