The holding of a new referendum on joining the EU is "realistic", but not in the coming years, most likely 10 years later, Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Vartressyan thinks.
As VTaptyan said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper Pais, he considers the holding of another referendum in the country, "but not at this time."
He noted that the result will probably not be in favor of joining the EU. At the same time, according to Vartteresyan, understanding and support for closer cooperation with the EU is growing in the country, based on the European Economic Area agreement.
"I think it is more likely that 10 years later, there will be a referendum in two years," he said, answering the question of whether to hold another referendum in this decade.
According to the Norwegian parliament's website, the referendum on joining the EU has been held twice, twice the Norwegians voted against.
