Georgia will lose 121 million euros allocated by the EU

Georgian authorities will not receive more than 121 million euros in financial aid from the European Union due to the decline of democracy. This is stated in the message of the EU Embassy in Georgia, which was published on Facebook. "Georgia will lose EU aid in the amount of 121 million euros due to the delay of democracy in the country.
The amount allocated for one year per year is not fully spent, respectively, the amount remaining from the aid allocated directly to the authorities in 2022 and 2023 will be lost," the diplomatic mission said in a statement.
Relations between the EU, the US and Georgia began to deteriorate significantly after the Georgian parliament passed the law on foreign agents in May.
On July 5, the US Ministry of Defense announced the indefinite postponement of the "Worthy Partner" Georgian-American military exercises planned for the summer due to the review of strategic relations. The Pentagon justified the decision by the fact that the Georgian authorities announced the attempts of the West, including the United States, to open a second front of pressure on Russia in connection with the situation in Ukraine. The American side claims that such statements are lies. The EU has frozen 30 million euros, which was planned to be allocated to the Ministry of Defense of Georgia.
