A significant decrease in the base interest rate of the US Federal Reserve System (the Central Bank's analogue) will lead to a decrease in oil prices, US President Donald Trump has announced, TASS agency writes.
According to the new American leader, when oil prices fall, "everything will become cheaper for Americans and the whole world."
In addition, the rate of increase in prices would decrease. This, in turn, would create conditions for bank interest rates to decrease in the future.
In December, the Fed cut interest rates once again by 25 basis points to 4.25-4.5% per annum.
Oil prices for March 2025 delivery on London's ICE exchange fell yesterday amid Trump's announcement that he would seek oil price cuts from Saudi Arabia and OPEC.
The price of benchmark North Sea Brent oil futures for delivery in March 2025 on the London ICE exchange decreased by 1.24% and amounted to about $78.02 per barrel.
