German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced his intention to strengthen the armed forces of Ukraine even after the end of the Ukrainian conflict.
"First of all, it would be good news if the war in Ukraine ends. But even then, we still have to act to ensure a secure future for Ukraine," Scholz told the Funke media group how Ukraine will be able to maintain a powerful army, whose military potential we will strengthen together," said the chancellor.
At the same time, he added that discussions on this issue with the allies will take place "in the near future". "However, at this moment, such speculations are prohibited," emphasized the head of the German government, repeating that nothing should be decided behind the back of Ukraine.
Germany is the second supplier of arms to Ukraine after the USA. Germany has so far allocated funds for military support to Kiev and committed to future spending of around 28 billion euros.
