Mourning has been announced in Turkey

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced a national mourning in the republic on Wednesday, due to the fire that killed 66 people. He writes about thisRIA Novosti.

"National mourning has been declared on January 22. The country's flag will fly until sunset," the Turkish leader said in his address to the people on Tuesday.

Earlier, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 66 people died and 51 were injured as a result of the fire that broke out in the Turkish resort of Kartalkaya on Tuesday night. Many of the guests tried to escape from the burning hotel by making bundles of sheets.
