South Korea's president denied ordering lawmakers to leave parliament

South Korean President Yun Seok-yeol has denied an order to expel members of parliament on the night of December 3-4, 2024, to disrupt the vote to lift martial law, Yonhap news agency reported.

At 14:00 local time, the regular session of the impeachment case started in the Constitutional Court, which was attended by Yoon Seok Yeol.2 On December 14, 2024, the parliament impeached the president for declaring martial law in violation of the constitution.

The events of that night also became the basis for the initiation of a criminal case on the fact of rebellion. The president and his lawyers claim that he remained within the legal framework because he obeyed the parliament's decision to abolish martial law.
