Arrested President Yun Seok-yeol was moved to a 12-square-meter solitary cell at a Seoul detention center after a court issued an official arrest warrant over the weekend, Yonhap news agency reported.
"Yoon Seok Yeol was transferred from the Suspect Detention Center to the General Detention Center, and I received a report that he had a good night," said Shin Young-hye, chief commissioner of the Korean Correctional Service.
It was previously reported that Yoon Seok Yeol was taken into custody in the early morning of January 19 on charges of leading a rebellion.
According to the agency, the presidential cell is 12 square meters and usually accommodates five or six people.
Shin Yong-hye confirmed that Yoon Seok-yeol has completed all official detention procedures, such as having his photo taken and undergoing a medical examination, but noted that he is being treated by a separate correctional officer for the president's safety.
