Mass arrests in Turkey

About 50 people suspected of ties with Fethullah Gulen's organization were arrested in Turkey. Ali Yerlikaya, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the country, announced this on X social network.
As the minister noted, operations were conducted in 23 provinces of Turkey within two weeks.

As a result, 47 citizens were arrested, 33 of them were detained.

To remind, the Turkish authorities accuse Gülen of organizing an armed coup attempt that took place in the country on July 15, 2016.

According to the Turkish authorities, Gülen planned and carried out this operation through people and supporters embedded in the country's power structures and especially the armed forces. It should be noted that after the coup attempt, thousands of officers and soldiers of the country's armed forces were arrested, and tens of thousands were fired.

Gülen, who was in the United States, condemned the coup attempt and denied the charges against him.

In October 2024, Turkish media reported that Gülen had died.
