WP. Netanyahu secretly promised the government to continue the war in Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has secretly promised the government that he will continue the war in the Gaza Strip after the end of the first phase of the deal to release the hostages. This opinion was published by The Washington Post, referring to anonymous sources.

Netanyahu reportedly promised his far-right allies behind closed doors that the war could resume after the first phase of the deal, in which the Palestinian Hamas movement would release 33 hostages in exchange for more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners. Such a step could be taken to maintain unity in the government and avoid political division.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office earlier confirmed the signing of a ceasefire agreement between Israel, the Palestinian Hamas movement, the United States and Qatar on the release of hostages and a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.

During the first phase, which will last 42 days, Hamas will release 33 Israeli military and civilian women hostages, as well as wounded civilians, children and elderly Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons.
