The Islamic Republic of Iran uses all possible capabilities to maintain and promote security in the South Caucasus, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Esmail Baghai, said in a briefing with journalists, referring to the visits of the country's Security Council Secretary Ali Ahmadian to Armenia and Azerbaijan a few days ago. The speaker noted that the security of the South Caucasus is important for Iran.
"That's why the Islamic Republic uses all possible capabilities to ensure that security in that region is maintained and promoted," Baghai said. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman also emphasized that relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan are important for Iran.
Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Akbar Ahmadian visited Baku on January 8 and Yerevan on January 9. The Iranian official had a number of high-level meetings with Armenian officials, including Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as well as Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan.
