Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, Academician-Secretary of the Chemistry and Earth Sciences Department of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia Levon Agassii Tavadyan died at the age of 73.
The funeral of Levon Tavadyan will take place on January 10, at 18:00-20:00, at St. Hovhannes Church in Kondi, and the funeral will take place on January 11, at 13:00, from the same place.
Academician Tavadyan's scientific activity is devoted to chemical kinetics, free-radical reactions, catalysis and photocatalysis of liquid-phase oxidation reactions, chemical mechanism of antioxidant effect, numerical modeling of multiphase chemical reactions. He is the author of the USSR scientific discovery "Selective inhibition of multicenter chain processes".
Levon Tavadyan is the author of more than 200 scientific works, 3 monographs, two of which were published in the USA.
Levon Tavadyan was born on June 9, 1951 in Yerevan. In 1973, he graduated from Yerevan State University, Faculty of Chemistry.
In 1974, he was admitted to the Institute of Chemical Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences, where he received a PhD in chemical sciences in 1978. In the same year, he worked at the Institute of Chemical Physics of the Armenian SSR Academy of Sciences In 1987, he received a doctorate in chemical sciences at the Institute of Chemical Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences scientific degree. In 1985-2006, he worked as the deputy director of the Institute of Chemical Physics of the RA NAS and at the same time headed the laboratory, which was created in the institute for the development of free radical reactions in a new scientific direction Director of the Institute of Physics. Since 1990, he has actively participated in programs dedicated to the development of science and education in the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, having made a great contribution to the establishment of a chemical ecology laboratory in Stepanakert.
Levon Tavadyan was the Chairman of the Science Council of the State Science Committee of the RA Ministry of Education and Science, a member of the Military-Technical and Scientific-Technical Council attached to the RA Military-Industrial Commission, the Chairman of the Chemistry-Biology Subcommittee, a member of the Committee of the International Scientific and Technical Center, the American Chemical Society, Moscow State University and the Semyonov Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation member of the scientific council of the joint scientific and educational center of the Institute of Chemical Physics named after
In 2011, Levon Tavadyan was elected a corresponding member of the RA National Academy of Sciences, in 2014, an academician of the RA NAS. Since 2011, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, member of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
Since 2014, he has been a member of the editorial board of "Mediterranean journal of chemistry", since 2015, "Горение и взрыв", since 2016, "Вода и екология".
In 2011, Levon Tavadyan was awarded the "Gold Medal" of the RA State Science Committee, "Academician N.M. Emanuel's Memorial Medal, in 2012 he became a laureate of the competition of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Moscow State University named after Lomonosov.
