When will classes start in schools?


The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan signed an order in 2023 approving the model curricula for the 2024-2025 academic year (1st, 4th- (th, 9th, 11th and 12th grades).

The academic classes of the 2024-2025 academic year in the 1st-12th grades of educational institutions implementing basic (general, specialized and special) state programs of general education begin on September 2, 2024, and end on May 23, 2025.

5-day work week, May 24

With a 6-day work week, providing at least 30 school weeks for grades one, 32 for grades two, and 34 for grades three through twelve.

Vacations in the 2024-2025 academic year:

1) Students of grades 3-12 are given vacations during academic sessions: autumn: from October 21 to 27, 2024 inclusive, winter: from December 23, 2024 to January 5, 2025 inclusive, spring: from March 2025 24 to 30 inclusive.

2) Fall vacations for first graders are from October 14 to 27, 2024 inclusive, winter vacations are from December 23, 2024 to January 19, 2025 inclusive, spring vacations are from March 17 to March 30, 2025 inclusive.

3) Fall vacations for second graders are from October 21 to 27, 2024 inclusive, winter vacations are from December 23, 2024 to January 19, 2025 inclusive, and spring vacations are from March 24 to March 30, 2025 inclusive.

In case of force majeure (unfavorable weather conditions, spread of acute infectious diseases, natural disaster, etc.), the institution can implement the basic general educational program remotely, according to the order of the Minister of Education and Culture.

In the case of force majeure, the Ministry can set an additional holiday by making changes in the timetables of educational classes and vacations set for students.

In case of force majeure, the institution may set an additional leave based on its application, informing the Ministry in writing within 5 working days.

Changes in the dates of vacations in institutions under the Ministry, as well as provision of additional vacations by the institution, are made at the initiative of the institution, with the agreement of the ministry.
