The first country to welcome 2025 was the Republic of Kiribati, also known as Christmas Island, the first to celebrate the New Year.
Given the time difference, it was only 5 a.m. EST in the US when the island nation welcomed 2025.
As reported by Diario AS, 15 minutes later, the Chatham Islands near the east coast of New Zealand also celebrated the New Year.
After that, it was almost the rest of New Zealand, Samoa, the Kingdom of Tonga and Tokelau.
Next come Fiji, Russia, Tuvalu, Nauru and the Marshall Islands and Australia.
The last year 2025 will be marked by Baker and Howland Islands, which are US territories.
