South Korea has imposed sanctions on North Korean IT professionals

The Republic of Korea imposes sanctions on 15 individuals and 1 organization related to the IT sector of the DPRK. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.

In his opinion, Pyongyang's "illegal activities" in cyberspace "represent not only crimes that threaten the security of the cyberspace ecosystem, but are also used as a means of financing missile and nuclear development" and therefore "pose a threat to international peace and security."

According to the South Korean side, North Korean information technology specialists go abroad to work, including in China, Southeast Asian countries and Russia, where they "disguise their identities" and take orders from companies around the world. Moreover, some of them reportedly engage in cyber attacks.
