Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to meet with former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who has received political asylum in the Russian Federation, but the exact date of their meeting is not yet known, said Yuri Ushakov, assistant to the Russian President.
"Recently, during the contact, the president mentioned that he wants to meet with Assad. But, to be honest, I don't know when it will happen. But if he said, he will probably hold such a meeting," Ushakov said at the briefing, according to RIA Novosti.
