Trains collided in Russia

On the morning of December 22, two freight trains carrying coal collided on the Transbaikal railway. As a result, 26 cars derailed. There are no victims, there is no threat to the environment, reports the Transport Prosecutor's Office of Eastern Siberia.

According to the department, the carriages of one of the trains started to fall, and then it collided with the oncoming locomotive. The Zabaikalsk railway explained that the reason was "a broken axle of a pair of wheels".

Initially, it was reported that 42 cars derailed: 35 from the first train, 7 from the second. Due to a fault in the contact network, the traffic was closed in both directions. A recovery train arrived at the scene. 40 railwaymen and employees of the Regional Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved in the elimination of the consequences.
