Qatar could cut off gas supplies to Europe if countries comply with new law that imposes penalties for not complying with greenhouse gas emissions regulationsFinancial Times (FT)Qatar's Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi said.
Under the new law, which is due to enter into force in 2027, European countries can impose fines on companies in the amount of 5% of the company's total annual revenue.
However, al-Kaabi, who is also the CEO of the national oil and gas company QatarEnergy, complained that 5% of his company's revenue was a loss of revenue for Qatar: "It's the people's money, so I can't lose that kind of money.
