Istanbul police arrested 16 suspects involved in the activities of the "Islamic State" terrorist group. This was announced by the Metropolitan Security Department of Turkey.
"As a result of the operation carried out by units of the Anti-Terrorism Department, 16 people were arrested on suspicion of links with the Islamic State, including in conflict areas, which pose a threat to the country's security," the message says.
Turkish intelligence services regularly carry out operations against IS. During the year, according to the data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, more than 3,000 people were arrested in the republic on suspicion of ties with the terrorist group.
