Orbán is ready to discuss a Christmas truce proposal with Zelenskiy in Brussels

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is set to meet Volodymyr Zelenskiy at an EU summit in Brussels to discuss his proposal for a Christmas ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

"I work in standby mode and sleep in standby mode, I am always ready for any meaningful discussion," said the head of the government, answering the question whether he is ready to discuss his peacekeeping initiative with Zelensky.

Orban was asked about this during his speech to the "Patriots of Europe" faction of the European Parliament in Brussels, which took place before the start of the EU leaders' meeting.

As reported by MTI, the Prime Minister said in relation to his peacekeeping initiative that "there are more difficult moments in politics, but sometimes simple, convincing proposals should be given a certain chance."
