The US intends to maintain open channels of communication with China

The US intends to maintain open channels of communication with China so that the competition between the two countries does not escalate into a military conflict. This is stated in the report of the US Defense Ministry prepared for the US Congress, RIA Novosti reports.

"The Ministry of Defense remains committed to maintaining open channels of communication with the PRC to ensure that competition does not escalate into conflict. The goals of military communication channels include crisis prevention, strategic and operational risk reduction, and elimination of misunderstandings between the parties," the document states.

The President of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Xi Jinping will not participate in the inauguration of President Donald Trump in Washington. The Chinese ambassador to the US and his wife are expected to attend the event on January 20. The ambassador may be joined by other officials from Beijing, but Xi Jinping himself will not attend.
