The newly elected US President Donald Trump has stated that many Canadians want that country to become the 51st US state.
"No one can answer why we subsidize Canada to the extent of more than 100 million dollars a year. It makes no sense. Many Canadians want Canada to become the 51st state. They would save a lot on taxes and military defense. I think the 51st state is a great idea," he wrote on his social network page.
Earlier, Donald Trump jokingly called Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "the governor of the great state of Canada."
