Minister of Internal Affairs. Property crimes account for a large proportion of total crime


On December 17, Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan participated in the presentation of the guide "Crimes against property according to the new Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia". From the point of view of fighting crime, Minister Sargsyan emphasized the combination of science and practice regarding a separate group of crimes, as a result of which, the formation of new practice.

According to the Ministry, he noted that crimes against property occupy a large place in the total share of crime, and statistics show that we currently have a 0.3 percent decrease in this part.

Taking into account the spread of the crime, its importance in the field of public security, the minister emphasized the need to re-evaluate the approaches, implement new solutions and new methods in the detection of crimes against property.

Thanking the Armenian expert-authors of the guide and the US Embassy for their support in the development of the guide, Arpine Sargsyan noted that it will allow law enforcement agencies to look at crimes against property in a new way and in practice provide new solutions, new approaches that will guarantee the growth of detections.

He also emphasized the need to have similar manuals for a group of other common crimes.
