Jake Sullivan, the US President's national security assistant, called US President-elect Donald Trump's idea to involve China in the Ukrainian conflict settlement process logical.
"The idea that China could somehow be involved in negotiating a just peace in Ukraine is not crazy," Sullivan said in a speech at the 92NY Cultural Center in New York.
Sullivan noted that China is a permanent member of the UN Security Council and "an important player on the world stage."
Biden's advisor added that he discussed the role that Beijing can play in the settlement of the conflict with the representatives of China, European countries and Ukraine. At the same time, he said, Washington would not want China to become the "main mediator" in European affairs.
