Why does Germany support Ukraine?

Germany supports Ukraine because German business investment in the country will benefit the German economy before and after the conflict.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced this during the German-Ukrainian economic forum in Berlin.

"After the war, we will see growth rates and development opportunities in Ukraine that we have seen only in Central and Eastern European countries that have joined the EU in the last two decades.
The German economy played a big role in these success stories and benefited from them.I would like to see something similar in Ukraine. That is why we support Ukraine in its pursuit of a just peace," said Scholz in his opening speech, addressing the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, who was present at the forum.

The German chancellor noted that the trade between the two countries is slightly less than 8 billion euros in 2021, and almost 10 billion euros in 2023, due to the sale of military equipment, chemical products and cars, and the import of raw materials and food from Ukraine.
