The president of Venezuela announced the resumption of direct negotiations with the United States

Venezuela resumes direct negotiations with the United States on the restoration of relations between the two countries. "I have accepted the US government's offer to resume direct dialogue," the Venezuelan president said, according to Armenpress. The President noted that the Speaker of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez Gomes and Hector Rodríguez Castro will participate in the negotiations, which will start on July 3. "We will conduct negotiations in order to sign new agreements and achieve the fulfillment of previously signed agreements," the president said. The Venezuelan government severed diplomatic relations with the United States on January 23, 2019, after the American administration recognized Juan Guaido as the interim president of the republic. The United States and its allies have unilaterally imposed more than 930 restrictive measures against Venezuela. The biggest damage to the economy of the Republic was caused by the 2019 sanctions against the state oil and gas company PDVSA.
