Assad's relatives bought 19 apartments in Moscow

Relatives of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad bought 19 apartments in Moscow in 2013-2019, the total value of which is estimated at 40 million dollars. This is reported by the Financial Times.

According to the publication, Assad's cousin Hafiz Makhlouf has acquired 13 properties directly or through companies he controls, and two more apartments were purchased by the wife of another cousin, Rami Makhlouf. Four buildings are said to be used as apartments, one of which is owned by Assad. cousins, twin brothers Ihab and Iyad Makhlouf. Makhlub owns a three-room apartment located a few minutes from Moscow.

According to the Financial Times, the transactions were mainly carried out by offshore companies, which are listed as real estate owners.

Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, said that Asad and his family were granted asylum in Russia by the personal decision of Vladimir Putin.
