The head of the Salvation Army of Syria, Mohammed al-Bashir, who ruled Idlib for several years, has been tasked with forming a new Syrian government to oversee the transition, Al Jazeera reports.
This decision was taken after a meeting during which issues of power transfer and preventing chaos in Syria were discussed.
The meeting was attended by the commander of the opposition, Ahmad al-Shar, and the former prime minister of Syria, Muhammad al-Jalali, who was appointed as the manager of government affairs.
Al-Bashir was born in Idlib in 1983, received a degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Aleppo University (2007) and a law degree from Idlib University (2021).
He previously served as the Director of Association Affairs in Idlib in 2022, then the Minister of Development and Humanitarian Affairs.
