The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is committed to continuing its humanitarian work in Syria and stands ready to increase its assistance to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.
This was reported by the headquarters of the federation in Geneva. The ICRC is "closely following recent events and the humanitarian situation in Syria," the statement said.
The work of the volunteers of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent continues.
They provide "emergency medical care, food, water and basic necessities."
"People in Syria are facing enormous and urgent needs," the ICRC said in a statement.
The Federation called the protection of the civilian population by all parties a "vital" issue.
