The US has called on the Syrian opposition to maintain humanitarian norms

The Washington administration expects that the armed opposition occupying Syria will comply with international humanitarian standards, protect civilians and preserve state structures. This was stated in the written statement of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, which was published on Sunday.

"The United States strongly supports the peaceful transfer of power to an accountable Syrian government through a Syrian-led process. During this transitional period, Syrians have every right to demand the maintenance of institutions, the restoration of basic services and the protection of vulnerable populations.

We again call on all players to respect human rights, take all precautions to protect civilians and respect international humanitarian law," the US foreign policy official said.
