Lithuania called on the West to impose an arms embargo on Georgia

Western countries should ban arms supplies to Georgia. This was announced by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis on CNN.

"When in 2010 the government of Belarus violently suppressed the demonstrations in Minsk, the European Union imposed an embargo on the supply of military equipment and weapons. I think we should discuss similar measures with Georgia," he said.

According to the head of the foreign policy department of the republic, it is unacceptable that the weapons supplied to Georgia by the West are used against the civilian population.

"Why are we still exporting military equipment that the government uses against its citizens?" Landsbergis said.
