The permanent representatives of the European Union countries have agreed on the framework of negotiations regarding the membership of Ukraine and Moldova to that organization. It was mentioned on the social network of the Belgian presidency in the EU. "The permanent representatives reached an agreement in principle on the negotiations on the membership of Ukraine and Moldova. The Belgian presidency will convene the first intergovernmental conference on June 25," the message states.
The decision to start negotiations on the membership of Ukraine and Moldova was made by the EU countries on December 14 last year. Hungary refrained from expressing a position on it. during the voting, the Prime Minister of that country, Viktor Orban, left the session hall. The Executive Vice President of the European Commission, Marosh Šefčovič, announced in Strasbourg on March 12 that the EC has completed the preparation of proposals regarding the draft negotiation framework with Ukraine and Moldova, which will be presented to the EU Council for discussion.
