South Korea's six opposition parties have submitted a petition to the parliament to impeach the president

South Korea's six opposition parties, including the largest Democratic Party, have submitted a petition to the parliament to impeach President Yun Seok-yeol. This is reported by Yonhap agency.

The petition for impeachment was signed by 190 opposition MPs. The deputies of the ruling party did not sign it. The issue of impeachment of the president will be discussed at the plenary session of the parliament on December 5, and the vote on it will take place on December 6 or December 7.

The support of two-thirds of the parliamentarians is necessary for the adoption of impeachment, that is, the opposition parties of the 300-member National Assembly need the support of several deputies of the ruling party to impeach Yoon Seok Yeol.

Yoon Seok Yeol declared a state of emergency on the evening of December 3, addressing the people in a surprise televised address and accusing the opposition of "paralyzing" the government through "anti-government" actions.

The president of South Korea canceled the martial law early in the morning after the unanimous vote of the National Assembly, by which the deputies demanded its cancellation.
