Syrian troops launched a counterattack near Aleppo


The units of the Syrian army launched a counterattack against the positions of the militants of the extremist group "Jabhat al-Nusra", which captured more than 20 settlements north and west of the city of Aleppo, 360 km from Damascus, reports the LebaneseAl Mayadeenthe TV channel.

During the operation, government forces liberated the city of Al-Bakum. Earlier, military forces from other regions of Syria were moved to Aleppo. Traffic on the international highway connecting Damascus and Aleppo was blocked due to the threat of armed attacks.

In several parts of the front near Aleppo, the government forces managed to stop the advance of the enemy. The latter suffered losses, several hundred militants were destroyed.

Military sources told Al Watan newspaper on Thursday that Syrian artillery struck the rear supply lines of the armed forces in Aleppo suburbs and Idlib province. Syrian air force and drones attacked enemy positions.
