The US Capitol Police detained a Democratic Party staffer in the House of Representatives during a search while entering the congressional territory, finding him in possession of ammunition, the Washington Post
writes. “A House Democratic staffer was detained...Michael Hopkins, a 38-year-old man, was stopped by police...while being searched at the entrance to the Cannon Office Building (part of the Congressional complex - ed.),” it says in the publication.
According to the newspaper, during a search and X-ray, police found four magazines and 11 rounds of ammunition in Hopkins' bag. The detainee himself stated that he simply forgot to remove them from there. The suspect has been charged with illegal possession of ammunition.
The article notes that Democratic Congressman Joseph Morrell, for whom Hopkins worked, had already fired a subordinate.
