You cannot work without tax violations. Agassi Tavadyan on turnover tax changes (video)

From January 1, 2025, legislative changes related to turnover taxes will come into force.
The issue of sales taxes is a bit multi-layered. The government has a problem with tax collection at the moment. Over the last three quarters, 8 percent or more less tax was collected than planned.

This is the result of the wrong fiscal policy, said Aghasi Tavadyan, an expert of "Amberd" research center, in a conversation with Euromedia24.COM.

According to him, this is the first time in the last 20 years that taxes have been paid less than planned.
"The Armenian economy is currently in a bad state, as evidenced by several indicators.

One of them is the rather significant under-collection of taxes, the other is the reduction of exports: compared to the first months of 2023, exports to our main partners and EAEU countries were reduced by 17%, to the EU by 25%.

The number of registered organizations has also been reduced, as well as the IT sector, which is considered a strategic sector," Tavadyan said.

In this case, the additional increase of taxes, according to the economist, can bring the opposite result - reduction of taxes. In other words, when tax collection is 0%, 0% tax enters the budget, but the same can be obtained in the case of 100%, because people will not want to pay tax or start an activity.

"There will be inflation as a result of this. For example, if a store was operating at 5%, from January 1, it will operate at 10% and will have to raise prices," informed Tavadyan.
