Turkey is ready to contribute to the settlement process in Syria, while it considers any external interference in the situation of the neighboring country wrong. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed such a position after negotiations with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Ankara. "Recent events once again show that Damascus must reconcile with its own people, and the legitimate opposition is ready to make all efforts in that direction.

We have always advocated for the territorial integrity and unity of Syria and will continue to do so in the future," said the Turkish Foreign Minister.
He noted that at this stage it would be a mistake to explain the escalation in Syria by external intervention, calling it "the fallacy of those who do not want to understand the realities of Syria." "The reason for the resumption of clashes in Syria at this moment is that the interconnected problems of this country have not been resolved for more than 13 years," Fidan added.
The Turkish Foreign Minister also noted that Ankara will not allow terrorist organizations operating in the region to take advantage of the situation. "Our structures monitor the situation in Syria around the clock and take necessary measures to prevent possible problems."
