Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze confirmed the resignation of the country's ambassador to the United States, David Zalkaliani, against the background of protests in Tbilisi.
Yesterday, the opposition "Imedi" TV channel, citing the source of the Georgian Foreign Ministry, announced the resignation of Zalkaliani, as well as the resignation of Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Teimuraz Janjalia.
"As for Mr. Davit Zalkaliani, first of all, let me say that he left his position, I spoke with him, I don't know, everyone has different will power. And in this case, I want to express my solidarity with him. There was a lot of pressure on Zalkaliani from various sides," Kobakhidze said at the briefing.
