In 2025, it will be possible to import 8 thousand electric cars without customs duty

In 2025, the government plans to set a 0 percent customs duty for the import of 8,000 thousand electric motor vehicles.

The project was published on the website "e-draft" legal acts. This proposal stems from the decision N134 of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission of November 24, 2023, which provides for tariff benefits for Armenia for the import of 8,000 vehicles.

The project envisages the import of 8,000 vehicles with an electric motor without customs duty, the privilege of importing 5,000 units of vehicles will be given to individuals, sole proprietors and legal entities that do not have a dealer contract with the car manufacturer, the privilege of importing 3,000 units of vehicles will be given to organizations that have a dealer contract with the car manufacturer. and guarantee maintenance. Beneficiaries cannot use both types of benefits at the same time. The project plans to apply the benefits from January 1, 2025 until the end of the year.

As a result of the adoption of the project, the import and use of electric vehicles in Armenia will be promoted, the amount of emissions will decrease, contributing to the improvement of the ecological situation, and the competition for the purchase and maintenance of vehicles will increase.

Adoption of the project does not require additional costs from the state budget. The project was developed by the RA Ministry of Economy and plans to support the goals of the Armenian government's environmental protection and sustainable development policy.
