Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Mohammad Reza Naghdi called for another Operation Al-Aqsa Flood (the Palestinian Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023) in response to the October 26 Israeli strike on the Islamic republic.
“Many people ask us about when True Promise 3 (the military response to the Israeli attack on October 26) will be held, and I say that I am not worried about True Promise 3.
We, the paramilitary Basij militia, want a new “Al-Aqsa Flood” to finish with the Zionists and that day is very close,” the Tasnim news agency quoted the Iranian military commander as saying.
Iran called Operation True Promise 1 a strike on Israeli territory in April 2024 in response to the shelling of the Islamic Republic's consulate in Damascus. “True Promise 2,” by analogy, was the name given to the rocket attack on Israeli military targets on October 1, carried out as a response to the assassination of the head of the Hamas Politburo, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran.
“The experience gained from Operation Al-Aqsa Flood shows that we should not take a defensive position in relation to the Zionist regime, we must attack it,” Reza Naghdi emphasized.
