Germany will send Patriot air defense systems to Poland

Germany, as part of the alliance of NATO countries, will transfer a battery of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Poland at the beginning of next year. This was announced by Polish Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosyniak-Kamisz on Thursday.

"According to NATO's decision, from January 2025 we will receive further support from allies for our air defense system. We welcome Germany's decision to send a battery of the Patriot system to Poland," wrote the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense.

The Patriot anti-aircraft battery includes 4-8 launchers with four missiles each. It is a minimal tactical fire unit capable of performing a combat mission independently.

From January to November 2023, German Patriot air defense systems were also deployed in Poland near the eastern border. The reason is the fall of a missile in the Polish border town of Przewodów on the evening of November 15, 2022 during a Russian missile attack on Ukraine, as a result of which two people were killed.
