“Germany has begun to develop a plan that will expand the area of air-raid shelters for civilians by converting public buildings and private buildings.
There is a shortage of public bomb shelters in the country - there are 579 of them, they can accommodate less than 500 thousand people out of a total German population of 83 million people. One of the reasons for the situation is the policy of the last 17 years, when protective shelters were eliminated in the country, because “no one thought that there would be a need for them again.” All public places suitable for these purposes will be used as protective structures for the civilian population.”
