Kazakhstan intends to spend 10-12 billion dollars for the construction of the NPP


If the issue of the construction of the nuclear power plant is approved in the national referendum, Kazakhstan expects to spend 10-12 billion dollars for the construction of the facility. According to "Armenpress", this is reported by "Interfax", referring to the consultation document of the draft law "On the use of alternative sources of energy". According to the document, if the voters approve the construction of the NPP, it should be built by 2035. with the means of the state budget. The document was published on June 5 and will be in the stage of public discussions until July 27, 2024. In September 2023, the President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev proposed to hold a nationwide referendum on the issue of building a nuclear power plant in the country. According to him, Kazakhstan, being one of the largest producers of uranium in the world, should have its own atomic generation.
