The president of Abkhazia spoke about the early elections

The President of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, called the demonstrations in the country an attempt at a coup d'état, reports Apsnypress.

He noted that now is the time when they should take care of their country and homeland.

“He's in danger. And our motherland ended up in such a difficult situation as a result of the actions of people who attempted a coup. It is not too late to bring everything back," he said, adding that he remains in the position of president.

Bzhania called the emergency elections the way out of the current situation, which "will show who the multi-ethnic people of Abkhazia see as the president."

"Nothing irreparable has happened yet. We need to stop, take a break and think carefully. The way out of this situation is clear, we can lose our statehood," he said.
