Two people in the stands were injured as a result of gunfire during a football match between children's teams of 8-9 year old players in Granada, Spain, reports El Caso. The victims received minor injuries and went on their own to a nearby medical center. Several local and national police patrols, as well as medical personnel, were called to the scene. Law enforcement officials evacuated people as a precaution and conducted an initial visual inspection of the area where the shots were fired. Police found two 22mm shells and sent them to a laboratory for analysis. Sports events outside the sports complex have also been suspended “for preventive purposes,” but other facilities continue to operate as normal. Such measures will remain in place until the national police identify the shooter, who may have fired from tall buildings in the vicinity of the field.
