The average price of diesel fuel in the United States has increased by almost 60% over the past year and reached a historic high of $5.85 per gallon, according to data from the American Automobile Association (AAA).
A year ago, the average price of a gallon of diesel fuel in the country was $3.71. Thus, in one year, diesel has increased in price by 57.6%, or more than two dollars per gallon.
According to the association, the current price of $5.85 per gallon has become the highest average price of diesel fuel in the United States in the entire history of AAA observations.
