"Zhoghovurd" daily writes: Official sources of "Zhoghovurd" daily report that the government has decided to change the tactics adopted by "Strong Armenia" nominated by "Strong Armenia" regarding the election of the chairpersons of the NA standing committees. According to our information, the "Civil Agreement" faction has a decision to secure as many votes as necessary so that two candidates nominated by "Strong Armenia" are elected and the parliament can move forward with the agenda.
This is especially remarkable against the background that just one day ago, CP adopted a tough stance towards the candidates of "Strong Armenia". On August 20, the three candidates nominated by the opposition faction, Hayk Farmanyan, Davit Ghazinyan and Arega Hovsepyan, were not elected. 40 MPs were in favor of Farmanyan's candidacy, 61 were against it, and the other two candidates did not get the necessary votes either. However, the situation changed dramatically yesterday. "Strong Armenia" nominated new candidates for two positions, and Liana Manukyan's candidacy for the position of the chairman of the finance, credit and budget affairs committee was elected with 57 votes in favor and 39 against. According to our official sources, this is only the first step.
The issue of electing the president of two more commissions is currently being discussed in the CP, and the decision is that in the case of at least two candidates, the necessary votes must be secured so that the parliament can finally finish the process of forming the commissions. And here the time factor is not accidental for the government. NA Vice President Hayk Konjoryan has already announced that on Monday the parliament will discuss the government's activity plan, and after finishing its discussion, it will return to the unfinished agenda issues.
In other words, the government actually stands between two processes. on the one hand, the presentation of the new government's program and the provision of the necessary processes by the political majority in the parliament, on the other hand, the final addition of the newly formed standing committees of the National Assembly.
It is in this context, according to our sources, that the CP decided not to enter into the same tough confrontation with "Strong Armenia" for the second time. Moreover, leaving the issue of the leaders of the opposition committees unresolved in the parliament on the eve of the presentation of the government program may become more politically problematic for the government.
If the government is already going to advance the government's activity plan, then the parliament's work should be as complete as possible. According to our sources, that is why the KP is now calculating not whether to "vote for the opposition candidate or not", but how many votes are needed for the candidate to pass. The next test will be in the coming days, when the parliament must simultaneously complete the formation of the commissions and discuss the government's new program."
