According to our information, some controversial provisions included in the package of amendments to the Electoral Code, initiated by the government, have also received the attention of some foreign ambassadors, who, although they unconditionally support Pashinyan, have expressed an opinion in some circles that such shameful, anti-democratic changes are unacceptable.
We are talking about declaring a state of emergency after the voting, before drawing up a protocol on the results of the elections, and canceling the electoral process based on it, calling a new vote, the right of which, according to the draft, is given to the current prime minister.
"If the military or state of emergency is declared after the start of the period for nominating candidates before the preliminary results of the vote are summarized... moment, then the electoral process is considered to be suspended by law from the moment a military or state of emergency is declared, after which the resumption necessarily implies the organization and holding of a new vote," the draft says.
This means that Pashinyan is going to rule for life and with this he is insuring his power so that if he is not re-elected as a result of the vote, he will declare a state of emergency under some pretext and hold a new vote. It should be noted that hearings will be held in the National Assembly today on the subject of amendments to the EC."
